October 2020 Fitness Check-In

So, when I started the whole weight loss and get fit challenge, we weren't in the middle of a lockdown and pandemic. I know it's been almost a year since we all headed into lockdown and social distancing.

The gyms are closed.

Doordash, Skipthedishes and others are delivering instead of us going out.

There are so many people right now gaining weight and experiencing anxiety from this alone that it's staggering.

Well... I'm no different.

Let's recap.

When I started this I was up to 308lbs.

I floated down to 272lbs.

I'm back up, with a few extra, at 312lbs.

My mistake is probably the same as everyone's. I haven't been going out. I haven't been able to go to the gym. We're ordering in food that is probably terrible for us and, for me, we're probably eating just to fill a void caused by anxiety.

If that sounds familiar, well, that's me too.

So, here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to try to change my coping method which involves stuffing my face with baked goods and crap, and when I feel crushing anxiety I am going to do something physical. I have invested in one of those fitness elastic bands, a new FitBit (because the old died), and with the move from the apartment with a view of an ugly parking lot to a house with a backyard (ie: space to work out in the fresh air and away from everyone), I will be working out in my little grassy area until the snow hits.

I mean, this was my old view. It's not very inspiring.

When the snow hits, I will shovel the path to the backyard and the firepit and continue my fitness targets from there.

Because the view from the backyard to the valley below, even if it's full of houses, is gorgeous.

I mean, look at it...

It's not showing the view, but you can already tell it's far better.

And if shovelling uphill to clear that isn't exercise, I don't know what is.
