At long last, my first book is coming back to retailers. In fact, I have been notified that the pre-order of the brand spanking new edition with tweaks to editing, the cover, and everything in between is currently in the works and slowly making its way through distribution channels with my new publisher, Pen Knights Press.
It's a season of new beginnings
The new edition isn't the only thing new, however. Let me be the first to introduce the new non-profit publishing collective, Pen Knights Press. They're so new the domain hasn't even propagated yet nor has the website been finished. I'm excited to be a part of it and I'm sure we'll see loads of great things from this new company.
And my book isn't the first book out of the gate--there are more books by some truly fantastic authors and I look forward to working with them.
Ashes in Winter - the first book of the Rangers of Walden series.
Let's go back to one of the first books out of the gate, which is Ashes in Winter. The first book of my series, The Rangers of Walden, won third place in the Dystopian category of SIBA and is a favourite of readers. It's one of my favourites in the series (my favourite is still Ghostwalker), but this book is close to my heart as my first published work ever.
Way back in May of 2014.
It's been five years since this roller coaster of a ride in publishing started and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
About the book:
Summary: The residents of the small town of Whitefish are no strangers to snow. Used to being forgotten and digging their own way out, no one thought anything of it during one of the coldest winters on record when help just never came. But, as fuel runs out and raiders press in on all sides, Derek, Sheridan and Garrett realize it’s not just the snow they need to dig their way out of.
Originally Published: May 2014, at Anime North through CreateSpace as "After Oil". Numerous editions have followed.
